Delivering Two Fab Buildings on a Fast‑Track Schedule

300mm Fab

Hoffman provided construction and start-up services for two semiconductor fabrication buildings on the campus of this leading technology manufacturer.

Encompassing nearly 800,000 SF, the work involved build-out of previously shelled space that was mothballed for several years, as well as retrofit of existing space to accommodate 300mm capability. One building contains approximately 120,000 SF of clean room space; the other has approximately 40,000 SF. In addition to the increased manufacturing capability, Hoffman built a 60,000 SF chemical storage warehouse. The mechanically intensive project was on a fast-track schedule, with “first tools” scheduled for October 2006. Hoffman’s extensive previous experience with the A/E team was a key factor in meeting the owner’s aggressive timeline. This project features 8000 SF of flow-through clean subfab air from make-up and recirc-controlled air. There is a 24” raised floor with high frequency grounding, and the entire room had Level 4 seismic bracing. Pre-action fire protection system, and VESDA early warning smoke detection system.
