New Library and Theater are Centerpiece of New Arts Quad

Linfield College Library

An extensive renovation transformed a former Hewlett-Packard manufacturing facility into a library and theater, creating the centerpiece of a new Arts Quad for Linfield College. The 72,000 SF structure more than doubles the size of the current library and theater. The new main entry, skylight, large windows, and interior have changed the tilt-up structure dramatically. The library features an 18-inch raised floor to accommodate an underfloor mechanical system for greater energy efficiency and enhanced flexibility for future requirements. The 56,000 SF library provides digital, electronic, and wireless technology services, as well as the traditional collection of books and journals. Seating capacity has been increased to 500 students in both individual and group study spaces. The theater itself can be rearranged into three different configurations.
