Randall‑Bold Water Treatment Plant

Using the most advanced ozone equipment of its kind at the time of construction, this facility represents a new generation of water treatment plants. Instead of using chlorine, the plant is a direct filtration facility using pre- and post-ozonation for primary disinfection. It also features a complex filtering system that uses activated carbon. Hoffman built all the civil structures and installed all the process and mechanical systems for the 50 MGD plant. The plant, which is virtually 100 percent automated, was designed to accommodate future expansion to double capacity to provide drinking water for Contra Costa.
