Maintaining a Children's Hospital to Ensure Longevity and the Latest in Medical Technology
Doernbecher Expansion and Renovation
Since completing Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in 1997, Hoffman has engaged in a series of expansion, remodel, and renovation projects.
We created the new bone marrow transplant unit with a phased plan that relocated administrative offices, built a Pediatric Oncology Clinic, expanded the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and finally created the new 22-bed BMT unit and Healing Garden. A third public elevator was also added to the hospital as a part of this project, plus conversion of two older surgery rooms into modern Endoscopy rooms for minimally invasive surgery. The complex work required removal of the walls and ceiling and installation of data cabling and new structural steel to support viewing screens and lighting. In addition, Hoffman performed significant modification of ductwork and medical gas piping above the ceiling. Finally, the rooms received a cosmetic upgrade of new colors and casework designed to promote a peaceful, healing environment for young patients.
