The World's Largest Mobile Crane Helps Deliver a New Fab in Record Time

Fab 32

Hoffman built Fab 32 in the middle of an active, fully-operational site to accommodate the newest 300mm fabrication technology. Experience building fabs for this client allowed Hoffman to complete the new building, including a 178,000 SF clean room, on an extremely tight schedule: Hoffman had only 12 months to get the facility ready to move in the tools.

The world’s largest mobile crane was used to lift huge trusses into place. The work also included an expansion to the existing Central Utility Building at the site, sensitive tie-ins to a neighboring fab and an expansion to an acid waste neutralization pit. Work was performed alongside an existing fab, without disrupting its operations. Hoffman added 50,000 SF to the computer room, including new electrical, new CRAC units/ turnstiles, 2000 new rack positions, new fiber/Copper back bone to site, new internal fiber, raised floor, hot aisle, chilled water cooling and CPS panels.
