Building an “Essential Facility” to Make Seattle Safer

Fire Station 10

Designed to continue operating during a major city-wide disaster, Fire Station 10 is built to “essential facility” standards, bringing together three critical facilities for the City of Seattle’s emergency and disaster response: Fire Station 10 Operations, the Emergency Operations Center, and the Fire Alarm Center.

Constructed to “essential facility” performance standards, the 2,500 SF fire station has post-disaster stand-alone capacity and state-of-the-art communications technology, including facilities for media production. During disasters, the new Emergency Operations Center will become the seat of government for the City of Seattle. The Fire Alarm Center is the 911 call facility for Fire and Medic One emergencies, and provides space for training new dispatchers. Additional equipment and support spaces are distributed throughout the facility.
