Controlling Major Rain Events on the Edge of Lake Washington

Genesee CSO Reduction

This complex infrastructure upgrade to the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) system adjacent to Genesee Park helps the City control CSO during major rain events and prevent overflows from entering Lake Washington. Work included in-water construction (replacement of upland, nearshore, and offshore sections of outfall pipe), installation of large underground concrete storage tanks and supporting facility vaults, underground piping upgrades with connections to the current SPU system, extensive pile installation, and landscaping and street improvements.
