“Surgical” Demolition and Proven Airport Phasing and Safety Protocols Deliver a Smooth Upgrade of PDX’s Security Access System

PDX Replace Access Control System (RACS)

Working at more than 350 locations in the terminal, support builldings, and on the airfield, Hoffman completed a comprehensive, system-wide upgrade of access control hardware and software at Portland International Airport.

Hoffman completed this comprehensive, system-wide $37 million upgrade of PDX control hardware and software at more than 350 doors at the terminal, airfield, and support buildings. The project added new and upgraded entry and exiting to improve access and circulation, with modernized finishes for aesthetics and durability. In all, Hoffman installed 30 miles of new fiber throughout the airfield to support the new access control system and the secure perimeter. The team performed carefully phased, “surgical” demolition of the existing security access control system, while protecting sensitive PDX operations, security, and services to the traveling public.
