Optimized Energy Performance on New Public Office Building

Clackamas County Public Services Building

Clackamas County utilized an innovative procurement approach (Design-Build-Operate-Manage) to create this high-quality public office space. Hoffman partnered with Mackenzie and Johnson Controls to deliver the 110,000 SF, LEED Silver facility, which enabled the County to consolidate 15 departments into one building. Finalizing the design required close communication, creativity, flexibility, and teamwork to overcome issues ranging from code and LEED requirements to space planning changes. The team focused on a life-cycle approach aimed at reducing future utility, operations, and maintenance costs. For instance, three mechanical system designs were carefully analyzed for energy efficiency and the best was chosen, optimizing energy performance for this four-story building by 57%. The project received an Innovation Award from DBIA.
