Performance for this massive mechanical and civil project made Hoffman a winner in the American Public Works Association’s Contractor of the Year competition. Hoffman was nominated by the owner for finishing the wastewater treatment plant upgrade and expansion seven months ahead of schedule, in spite of $5 million extra work, and for keeping the plant operational 24 hours a day while making hundreds of detailed shutdowns to tie in new systems and equipment with existing operations. The project involved 27 systems and thousands of pieces of equipment.
