A New Garage Serves One of Seattle's Busiest Shopping Malls

University Village Parking Garage

Hoffman built a new five-level parking garage for University Village, a popular open-air shopping center in Seattle. The project consists of a 240,000 SF pile-supported garage structure with a small retail component and new garage entry that spans across the existing entry. The team sequenced construction to allow the existing entry to be open during construction. Hoffman implemented innovative construction techniques such as soil freezing to mitigate the high groundwater in the area. The base garage structure’s design allows for future upper floor additions for housing, office, and hotel space. Scope also includes street renovations to lower the street grade and accompanying utilities to allow garage access. Detailed “no impact” planning protected adjacent active retail stores and shoppers throughout construction.
