Impeccable Quality for a Technology Leader with No Disruption to Downtown Portland’s Shopping District

Pioneer Place Flagship Store

Replacing a 12-year-old, two-story concrete building, this new retail showcase for a world technology leader is an expansive, one-story glass box that spans an entire city block.

The 23,000 SF building has 20-foot high and 240-foot long windows blurs the distinction between inside and outside, with a spacious 4,300 SF outdoor plaza surrounding the store and a grassy green roof. We performed exacting quality control throughout the project, including traveled with the owner to select flawless stone imported from Italy, terrazzo flooring from China, and other top-of-the-line building products. We delivered the project in the heart of Portland’s busy retail district with no impacts to the public or adjacent businesses, bus lines, and light rail.

Challenge

Meet world-class quality standards while building a visionary design using exotic materials.

Solution

Hoffman’s team drew upon our experience with visionary designers, understanding that building projects with a high “wow” factor requires a different mind-set. Saying “you can’t do it that way” is not an option. Hoffman’s BIM-driven quality control process was key to the success of this project, ensuring flawless installation, from innovative building systems and materials to user amenities.
