Luxury High‑Rise Brought to Market Quickly with Top‑Down Construction

The Casey

A luxury condominium in Portland’s Pearl District, The Casey is a 16-story residential tower, built above one story of retail space. Four levels of below grade parking provide 109 stalls. The 188,000 SF structure includes 61 units that feature high end finishes, fixtures and amenities. The building was built in a ‘top down’ sequence, which allowed the underground parking and tower structure work to proceed simultaneously. In addition to mitigating shoring and excavation issues on the tight site, this approach expedited the schedule and helped the owner get the project to the market faster. The building has a cast-in-place concrete frame and an aluminum and glass curtainwall system. The project also features highly sustainable design elements and was awarded a LEED Platinum rating.
